Russian Deputy Prime Minister Novak said in an interview on December 27 that the first production line of the Arctic LNG 2 project “has actually begun operation” and the first shipment of the project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year.

The Arctic LNG 2 project, located on the Jidan Peninsula above the Arctic Circle, is Novatek’s second large-scale project and is critical to Russia’s goal of more than tripling LNG production to 100 million tons by the end of this decade. . Despite U.S. sanctions against the project’s operator in November, Novak remains active in pushing the project forward.
