Classification introduction of steel plates

Classification introduction of steel plates

As an expert in the field of pipeline systems, Haihao Group widely uses steel plates in daily production and orders various types of steel plates for customers. Here we will introduce the different classifications and broad application areas of steel plates.

Common steel plate materials

The main materials of steel plates include ordinary carbon steel, stainless steel, high-speed steel, high manganese steel, etc. They are materials made by pouring molten steel, cooling and mechanically pressing it. Most steel plates are flat or rectangular and can be processed by mechanical pressing or cutting from wide steel strips.

Classification of steel plates

Classified by thickness:

Thin plate: thickness < 4mm

Middle plate: 4mm~20mm

Thick plate: 20mm~60mm

Extra thick plate: 60mm~115mm

Classification by production method:

Hot rolled steel plate: There is oxide scale on the surface, suitable for processing, low hardness and good ductility.

Cold-rolled steel plate: No oxide scale on the surface, good quality, high hardness, relatively difficult to process but high strength.

Classification by surface features:

Galvanized sheet (hot-dip galvanized sheet, electro-galvanized sheet): anti-corrosion coating, including hot dip method and electroplating method.

Tin plate: Cold-rolled thin steel plate, plated with thin metal tin on both sides, used for food cans, electronic devices, etc.

Composite steel plate: metal composite steel plate and non-metal composite steel plate, including metal cladding and viscoelastic resin composite plate.

Color-coated steel plate (color-coated steel plate): The surface has been treated and is widely used in construction, home appliances, automobiles and other fields.

Classified by use:

bridge steel plate

boiler steel plate

shipbuilding steel plate

Armor steel plate

Automobile steel plate

roof steel plate

Structural steel plates: used for mechanical parts and engineering structures, including carburized steel, quenched and tempered steel, spring steel, etc.

The above is the classification of steel plate types. If your project requires steel plates or steel plate products, please feel free to contact us.
