Top African Oil Projects Worthy of Attention in 2023

Angola Begonia Oilfield Development Project: the oilfield is composed of 5 wells and connected with the existing Pazflor FPSO. The project is planned to start at the end of 2024.Total Energy will invest 850 million dollars and 1.3 million man hours, 70% of which will be carried out in Angola.
Nigeria Bonga North Deepwater Project: Shell invested US $2 billion, which involves connecting with Bongo Main FPSO which has the ability of 120000 barrels/day of production . After this project, there will be a $10 billion project in the south west of Bangga, which is expected to complete FID in 2024.
Albert Lake Development Project in Uganda: Albert Lake Project is another major oil project operated by Total Energy Company. The FID of this project was reached in February last year, which has made full preparations for the development of upstream oil projects in Tilenga and Kingfisher, as well as the construction of 1500 km East Africa crude oil pipeline.
Senegal Sangomar oilfield development project: Senegal is expected to produce the first batch of oil from the Sangomar oil project successfully launched in 2023, which includes Rufisque, Sangomar and Sangomar deep blocks. The project is led by Woodside Energy Company and cooperates with Petrosen, Senegal’s national oil company. The project, which costs 4.6 billion US dollars, is expected to obtain about 231 million barrels of oil in its first phase of development, and the total amount of oil resources that can be exploited in its life cycle is estimated to be about 500 million barrels.
Ghana Deepwater Tano Corner Three Point Project: the ultra deepwater block consists of seven oilfields, including Pecan, Pecan North, Almond, Beech and Cob oilfields, and Hickory North and Paradise natural gas fields. This Norwegian operator is currently developing the Pecan oilfield. By 2023, the domestic output may rise from less than 200000 barrels per day to 420000 barrels per day.
