Haihao Group applauds milestone achievement: China’s first cylindrical FPSO completes main construction

We are thrilled to share a recent FPSO milestone:
On December 6th, China celebrated the completion of the main construction of Asia’s first cylindrical Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, the “Offshore Oil 122,” in the Qingdao West Coast New Area.
The “Offshore Oil 122” comprises two main parts: the hull and the upper functional modules. With a diameter of approximately 90 meters, a main deck area equivalent to 13 standard basketball courts, a designed displacement of 100,000 tons, and a maximum oil storage capacity of 60,000 tons, this FPSO is designed for a 30-year lifespan, with the capability to operate continuously at sea for 15 years without returning for dock maintenance.

Mr. Tao Fuwen, General Manager of Offshore Oil Engineering (Qingdao) Co., Ltd., highlighted the vessel’s innovative construction using integrated processes and twin gantry crane integration technology. The FPSO incorporates 15 independently developed key technical devices, empowering China to autonomously design and manufacture various types of deepwater oil and gas equipment tailored to different oil fields and marine environments.
Scheduled for completion in the first half of 2024, the “Offshore Oil 122” will be deployed in the Luhua oil field in the Pearl River Mouth Basin. This groundbreaking achievement will offer a new and efficient choice for the economic development of deepwater oil and gas fields in China.
