Good news! the first smart FPSO marine oil 123 oilfield in China was connected successfully
The domestic first-ever intelligent FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessel, “Marine Oil 123,” executed by CNOOC Engineering, successfully reconnected to the Lufeng 12-3 oil field, marking a significant breakthrough in CNOOC Engineering’s deepwater oil and gas field floating facility mooring system installation design and construction capabilities. This achievement holds paramount importance in accelerating China’s energy digital transformation and intelligent development.

“Marine Oil 123” is an FPSO built for CNOOC Energy Development Co., Ltd. at the China Merchants Industry Haibei Base and was officially delivered on June 16. This remarkable vessel boasts a carrying capacity of 100,000 metric tons, with a length of 241.5 meters, a width of 45.2 meters, and a depth of 25.4 meters, offering a deck area equivalent to 1.5 standard football fields. Compared to conventional FPSOs, “Marine Oil 123” showcases a high level of intelligence, incorporating seven intelligent features: a full-ship monitoring system, intelligent lighting system, smart assembly loading system, process flow digital twin system, edge data center, and other cutting-edge technologies. It stands as the first FPSO in China to employ cloud computing, big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, edge computing, and other digital technologies, carrying immense significance in the integration of China’s energy industry with digital technologies, and accelerating the country’s energy digital transformation and intelligent development.
