FPSO Almirante Barroso will be put into operation soon
FPSO Almirante Barroso set out this week from the BrasFELS shipyard in Angelados Res (RJ) to the B ú zios oil field in the salt zone of the Santos basin. The FPSO has been conducting commissioning activities and final acceptance tests in the shipyard since October last year.
This is the 11th FPSO refitted by Dalian COSCO Marine Heavy Industry for MODEC. It is refitted from a super-large VLCC tanker with a total length of 332 meters, a moulded width of 58 meters, and a moulded depth of 31 meters. It is one of the largest FPSO projects in the world that will be put into operation. The designed operating water depth is 1900 meters, the oil storage capacity is 1.4 million barrels, 150000 barrels of crude oil per day, 212 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, and 240000 barrels of production water per day.
