Precision Production of Seamless Carbon Steel Elbows for Italian Client

At Haihao Group, we recently completed the production of a large batch of ASTM A234 WPB seamless carbon steel elbows for an Italian customer engaged in petrochemical pipeline installation. The scope of this project included both long radius (LR) and short radius (SR) elbows in multiple sizes, wall thicknesses, and curvature specifications.

Project Overview

This production covered a comprehensive range of elbows:

Long Radius Elbows (LR)

DN sizes: 3″ to 6″

Wall thickness: SCH STD, XS, and custom gauges

Materials: ASTM A234 WPB

Short Radius Elbows (SR)

DN sizes: 3″ to 16″

Wall thickness: up to 10.97 mm

Dimensions verified per ASME B16.9

Notably, some of the elbows included large diameters and special thicknesses (e.g., 8″ x 12.70 mm XS and 16″ x 7.92 mm). Each fitting was produced seamlessly, ensuring uniform wall thickness and consistent mechanical properties.

Production Process and Quality Assurance

Given the project’s complexity, our manufacturing team planned a step-by-step workflow:

Material Procurement

We sourced ASTM A234 WPB billets with certified chemical composition and mechanical properties.

Hot Forming and Heat Treatment

Each elbow was formed using controlled induction bending, followed by heat treatment to achieve the specified material condition.

Dimensional Checks

Every elbow was inspected for key dimensions, including outside diameter, center-to-end distance, and wall thickness. Tolerances were measured against ASME B16.9 tables.

Visual and Surface Inspection

Before packing, all fittings underwent a meticulous visual inspection to confirm:

• No rust or corrosion
• No scratches, dents, or bends
• No welding defects

Marking and Traceability

Each piece was clearly marked with:

• Size and schedule
• Material grade
• Heat number

This process ensures our customers can rely on full traceability and compliance with project specifications.

Protective Packaging

To prevent damage during international transport, all elbows were:

• Wrapped in anti-corrosion film
• Packed in strong wooden crates

This packaging helps maintain the product’s pristine condition from our facility to the client’s warehouse.
