Today, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Qidong COSCO Marine Engineering on their remarkable achievement: the successful delivery and commissioning of the FPSO SBM Mero 4 “Alexandre de Gusmão” on December 16, 2024.

A Milestone in Offshore Engineering
The SBM Mero 4 FPSO, designed and constructed by Qidong COSCO Marine Engineering, represents a significant milestone in the field of high-end customized offshore engineering. Built under SBM Offshore’s innovative Fast4Ward® generic FPSO design concept, this state-of-the-art floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) is a symbol of engineering excellence. It will soon be deployed to the Libra oil field in the Santos Basin, approximately 200 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

This FPSO is designed to withstand diverse marine environments, including those of the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, and Brazil, making it a truly global solution for offshore oil and gas production. Dubbed a “mobile offshore refinery,” the vessel will connect to 15 wells, including 8 production wells, 6 injection wells, and 1 convertible well.
