What is the difference between seamless steel pipe and welded steel pipe?
Different forming processes: seamless pipes are made of long steel cylinders. The engineer heated the cylinder first. Then they inserted a tool called a mandrel into the center of the cylinder. Then roll and stretch the cylinder until it reaches the required pipe size and wall thickness. However, the welded pipe was originally a flat steel plate, which was molded into a tube. Then weld the two sides together. Although such pipes appear to have obvious joints and need to be polished, many pipes are welded on both sides by high-frequency current welding.
Different application ranges: seamless steel pipes are mainly used for petroleum geological drilling pipes, petrochemical cracking pipes, boiler pipes, bearing pipes and high-precision structural steel pipes for automobiles, tractors and aviation.Welded steel pipes are widely used in tap water engineering, petrochemical industry, chemical industry, electric power, agricultural irrigation, urban construction and other fields.
There are welding bars on the inner wall of the welded pipe. The pressure of seamless steel pipe is relatively high, which is generally about 10 MPa. Now welded pipes are subject to seamless treatment. Seamless pipe is made of steel ingot or solid pipe blank through perforation, and then processed by hot rolling, cold rolling or cold drawing. The specification of seamless pipe is expressed in mm of outer diameter * wall thickness. Seamless steel pipe can be divided into hot-rolled and cold-rolled (DIAL) seamless steel pipe.
