Nipples are fittings consisting of a piece of pipe complete with size and bore (ID). The overall length of the nipple is specified by the customer, and is not standard, as are the ends of the nipple: these ends can be plain, threaded, or bevelled (for butt-welding), depending on the ends of the piping system into which the nipple will be fitted
