Haihao Group warmly congratulates Shanghai COSCO shipping heavy industry on its new achievement
On the morning of January 16, Shanghai COSCO shipping heavy industry successfully undertook the modification of Prometheus FSRU for China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau’s Geria LNGC, and held a grand delivery ceremony at Pier 2.
The Geria FSRU conversion project is the first project in China to use MOSS spherical tank LNGC to be converted into an FSRU. It is also the first “One Belt, One Road” energy project in which a Chinese enterprise cooperates with the European Union. The successful delivery of the Geria LNGC conversion to Prometheus FSRU project marks that Shanghai COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry has the ability to work in the entire chain of LNGC conversion to FSRU (including design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and gas testing).

During this project using the EPC contract model, Shanghai COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry completed front-end, basic, detailed and production design, international and domestic material and equipment procurement, construction and hoisting of regasification modules and power modules, on-site modifications, equipment installation and A series of key projects include commissioning, gas testing, sea trials, as well as ship life extension for 20 years and maintenance without docking for 20 years.
The FSRU delivered this time is named after “Promethura” in Western mythology, who brings fire and hope to the world. The vessel is 296 meters long and 46 meters wide and can store 137,000 cubic meters of LNG with a regasification capacity of 4×105 MMSCFD. Its advanced equipment configuration will serve important countries along the “One Belt, One Road” initiative and provide support for the Vasilikos Port LNG terminal project in Cyprus. This project is Cyprus’s largest engineering project in recent years. It is an important part of the country’s national energy strategy and a key step in achieving the EU’s emission reduction goals and increasing the proportion of natural gas power generation. It is expected to help Cyprus reduce carbon emissions by 30% and reduce 15- 25% of power generation costs.
